Musician Within

I pause to consider each journeying musician
Songs yet to unfurl from each fingertip
A proud moment that would only spring forth
with the coaxing of a persistent tutor.
Not so! Happier the notes that come from within;
unforced, and dreamt into existence
by the daring mind confessing the sound that moves her soul.
Beyond the drudgery of discipline - 
Unmasked ability to turn thought into melody.
Any casual observer can easily be unimpressed, but
Diligent pursuit changes your own ears to understanding
of the labor invested, pursuit of unfolded emotion
Wandering to the edge of ability, culture, style.
Simple rhythm to cascading anthems
Where one sense fails, another can elevate
Scraping to create that sound worthy of claim
A language that ties all generations
Each heart able to listen, each a chance to sing.
